Yoga for Kids

Learning yoga tools at a young age can be instrumental to a child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. We offer classes that expose children of varying ages to yoga in a manner that they can understand—and have fun, too!

The many benefits of yoga include:

    • Enhanced strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination
    • Improved concentration, focus, and attention
    • Skills to promote calm and to be less reactive (self regulation skills)
    • Creative expression & imagination
    • Environmental awareness and overall sense of connectedness
    • Respect for self & others
    • Awareness of the mind/body connection
    • An overall increased sense of well-being

What others are saying about Yoga for Kids Classes:
“Our kids LOVED class today. They haven't stopped talking about it. They both felt fantastic afterward and said they wanted to hold on to that feeling. Tonight before bed, M said, "I wish we could do more yoga." They wish it were more than once a week. They also specifically love the stories you do with them. Thank you so very much. We're looking forward to the next series of classes!” -S.F. (Mom of 2 Yoga Students)
“I LOVE doing yoga with Miss Pat! We practice breathing to calm down and have fun doing the poses! Miss Pat did my Birthday Party and it was a lot of fun!”- E.D. (Age 9)
"Sometimes I get really mad at my little brother and I want to yell at him. I am trying hard to be nicer when he annoys me. I did my Balloon Breath when I got mad at him yesterday. I like how yoga makes me feel calm inside. And it's fun!"

Pat is a retired Special Education Teacher. She is the owner of Yoga for Kids, LLC and she offers classes to children at various locations. Pat also provides private yoga therapy in the home setting and multisensory yoga instruction to Adults with Developmental Disabilities. Prior to teaching special education, Pat cared for her family and worked part-time in the Mental Health Field. She is a certified ChildLight® Yoga Instructor and a former Yoga 4 Classrooms® Trainer. She has been practicing yoga since 1998. Meditation has always been a part of her life since being introduced to the Practice by her older brother when she was a teenager. She blends her knowledge of child development and mindfulness education in her work.
Pat practiced yoga daily with her students in her Emotional Support Classroom and saw firsthand the calming effects yoga postures, breathwork, self awareness, positive affirmations, and relaxation can have on children. She is thrilled to be able to introduce yoga and mindfulness practices directly to children in a fun and therapeutic manner. Pat believes children have an innate ability to live joyfully and wholly in the present moment and she views yoga as a wonderful tool to help children maintain that capacity for joyful living well into their adult lives.
When not on the mat or presenting at workshops, Pat can be found writing fun yoga lesson plans, volunteering, gardening, hiking, and backpacking along the Appalachian Trail.
